Diwali & Sanjeevini Booti

Diwali: The Festival of Lights

Diwali, also known as Deepavali, is one of the most significant festivals in India. Celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy, it symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Homes are adorned with oil lamps, candles, and vibrant rangoli designs, while fireworks light up the night sky. Families come together to share sweets, exchange gifts, and perform traditional rituals. Diwali is not just a festival; it is a celebration of life, hope, and the triumph of righteousness.

The Story of Sanjeevini Booti

The story of Sanjeevini Booti is a fascinating tale from the Indian epic, Ramayana. It highlights the bravery and devotion of Hanuman, the monkey god, and the dire need to save Lakshman, the younger brother of Lord Rama.

Why It Was Needed for Lakshman

During the fierce battle between Lord Rama and the demon king Ravana, Lakshman was gravely injured by a powerful arrow shot by Ravana's son, Indrajit. The arrow left Lakshman unconscious and on the brink of death. The only way to save him was to procure the Sanjeevini Booti, a magical herb known for its life-restoring properties.

How Hanuman Brought It

Hanuman, known for his immense strength and unwavering devotion to Lord Rama, was entrusted with the task of fetching the Sanjeevini Booti. He was directed to the Dronagiri mountain in the Himalayas, where the herb was believed to grow. Upon reaching the mountain, Hanuman faced a dilemma as he could not identify the specific herb. In his determination to save Lakshman, Hanuman lifted the entire mountain and flew back to the battlefield. The Sanjeevini Booti was then identified and administered to Lakshman, reviving him and allowing the battle to continue.
